Nächste Woche ist es wieder so weit: Linuxtag. Es heißt zwar Tag, aber das Linuxevent geht insgesamt vier Tage. Ich bin am Ubuntu-Stand zu finden, wo ich mich mit Menschen über Ubuntu unterhalten werde. Ich freue mich schon wieder auf den Linuxtag und auf die ganzen Leute, die ich dann mal wieder sehen werde. Auch freue ich mich auf das Wochenende davor, wo ich zum Karnelval der Kulturen gehen werde. Und vor allem freue ich mich schon auf Berlin.

Thank you, my great team
Today, we have the Ubuntu Community Appreciation Day and this is the reason that I say Thank you to all of the members of my team: the core team of ubuntuusers.de. I’m very proud to be a member of this great team of 61 people.
My special thanks goes to MarkusH. and svij for their very great work this year. They help me so much and have very much done for the project. It is a pleasure for me to work with you.
My activities in the German Loco community 2012
In Copenhagen on the UDS was a communities track and as a result some guys want to know what the locogroups currently do. So I write a little report of my activities in Ubuntu in this year.

At first let me tell you that I love when people come together and speak about Ubuntu and other open source things. If I have the time I go to a lot of meetings around Ubuntu. At the end of last year I moved from Berlin to Lüneburg, a small city near Hamburg and I had change my job. In July I have to change my job again. So I have had a lot to do with moving and my jobs. But this was not a reason to say, let’s make a little break with Ubuntu. My activities in this great community didn’t suffered about that – or only a little bit. 
This year was my main work for Ubuntu as a projectlead from ubuntuusers.de ( the official portal in Germany ). Another activity was writing news about Ubuntu for Ikhaya, the news-magazine in ubuntuusers.de. Also I worked as programmer in Ruby on Rails for communtu.org where you can individualize your Ubuntu installation. In the locogroup of Germany I coordinate exhibition activities and the spread of the Ubuntu CDs.
Here is the list of my activities in 2012:

- write an article about ubuntuusers.de in “Linux intern” magazine
- organize the ubucon – german conference of Ubuntu users
- speaker at the Software Freedom Day in Hamburg about Ubuntu and community
- presenting Ubuntu at the Software Freedom Day in Hamburg
And in 2013?
In 2012 the activities were great and very hard. For the most things I didn’t have enough time. In 2013 I will spend a much time in Ubuntu, too. But I think that I do some things different.
Things I will do like in 2012:
- write articles about Ubuntu on http://ikhaya.ubuntuusers.de
- presenting Ubuntu at the LinuxTag Berlin
- presenting Ubuntu at the Software Freedom Day in Hamburg or in another city
- meet other in local ubuntu or linux groups
- speaker at the ubucon
Things I will maybe do in 2013:
- member of the ubuntuusers.de team as projectlead
- work as a programmer on the communtu project to individualize the Ubuntu installation
- presenting Ubuntu at Chemitzer Linux Tage
Things I will not do in 2013 again:
- presenting Ubuntu at Cebit in Hannover
- writing article in commerzial magazins
Things I will do in 2013 that I havend done in 2012:
- speaker about Ubuntu and presenting Ubuntu at Froscon

Ubuntu Community Appreciation Day am 20. November
In einigen Tagen findet wieder der Ubuntu Community Appreciation Day statt. An diesem Tag darf man einfach mal “Danke” sagen an andere die sich mit Ubuntu beschäftigen. Sei es ein Entwickler, der Mensch der einem bei der Installation geholfen hat oder jemand anderes.
Also nutzt den 20. November und sagt: Thank you.
In zwei Wochen ist die Ubucon
Ich freue mich schon auf das übernächste Wochenende. Dann findet die Ubucon in Berlin statt. In den vergangenen beiden Jahren hatte sie in Leipzig stattgefunden.
Diesmal haben wir für das Vortragsprogramm ein paar interessante Entwickler, Vertreter von Unternehmen und Community Vertreter gewinnen können. Als Schwerpunkte sind diesmal Community und der Business-Bereich vertreten. Eine Anmeldung für das Wochenende vom 19. bis 21. Oktober 2012 kann man noch bis zum 12. Oktober zum vergünstigten Preis von zehn Euro vornehmen.
Besonders am Herzen liegt mir die Veranstaltung, wie es mit der Ubucon weitergeht, welche am Sonntag stattfinden wird. Hier können sich alle Leute einfinden, die Ideen für zukünftige Ubucons haben und diese eventuell auch ausprobieren möchten.
Man kann gespannt sein auf diese Ubucon. Ich bin gespannt darauf. Wir sehen uns dann.
Ubuntu Präsentation auf dem SFD in Hamburg

Ich habe am letzten Samstag (15. September 2012) einen Vortrag auf dem Software Freedom Day in Hamburg gehalten. Bei meinem Vortrag bin ich nicht nur auf den Bereich Freie Software eingegangen, sondern stärker auf das Thema, was es neben dem Open Source und Freien Gedanken noch benötigt.
Meiner Meinung nach kann dieses Konzept der Freien Software auch auf andere Bereiche der Gesellschaft übertragen werden, wenn die philosophischen Ansätze von Ubuntu gelebt werden. Eine kooperative Produktionsweise gehört meiner Ansicht nach ebenso dazu, wie ein verantwortungsvolles Miteinander. Dieses verantwortungsvolle Miteinander kann zum Beispiel über eine Community realisiert werden. Ich habe meinen Vortrag hier angehangen. Der Vortrag steht unter der cc by-sa Lizenz.
Ubucon 2012 in Berlin
Das sechste Jahr findet nun die Ubucon statt: diesmal vom 19. bis 21. Oktober 2012. Die Ubucon ist die zentrale deutschsprachige Konferenz in Deutschland. In den vergangenen beiden Jahren hat sie in Leipzig stattgefunden und dieses Jahr das erste Mal in Berlin.
Im letzten Jahr habe ich mich zum ersten Mal mit um die Organisation der Ubucon gekümmert. Dort hatte ich die Aufgaben: Call for Papers schreiben, Webseite aufzubauen und zu pflegen, Beiträge für die Veranstaltung auszusuchen und das Programm heraus zu geben.
In diesem Jahr ist der Zeitplan etwas sportlicher. Im letzten Jahr hatten wir die Grundbasics: wo und wann findet es statt zwei Monate vorher beantworten können. Um so mehr hat es mich gefreut, dass wir einen neuen Kooperationspartner für die Veranstaltungsräume der Ubucon gefunden haben: die HWTK (Hochschule für Wirtschaft, Technik und Kultur). Der Call for Papers ist nun gestartet. Jede/r ist dazu eingeladen etwas zu oder um Ubuntu und alles was dazugehört etwas vorzutragen.
Ich freue mich schon jetzt wieder auf Berlin, wo ich in den vergangenen beiden Jahren, auch gelebt habe und freue mich insbesondere auf die vielen spannenden Menschen und Meinungen, die mich zur Ubucon erwarten.
Vielleicht sehen wir uns ja auf der Ubucon im Oktober.
Thank you for the music
One week ago, we have started a call of donates by our users of ubuntuusers.de – the official german support forum for Ubuntu. We need new server and so we ask our users to give us the money we need for it. That are minimal need 12.000 euros. One week later we get from over 400 users donates. The amount is 14.789,81 euro. 
We have a very very very great community at all. Thank you to all users who made this possible.
Interview with Mark Shuttleworth on Ikhaya
We have made an interview with Mark for the news magazin Ikhaya on the German portal ubuntuusers.de. The questions was asked in the comments of an announcement for the interview article by the users of ubuntuusers.de which has 130.000 registred users.
